I have been practicing yoga on and off for the past 30 years and it has continually helped me to challenge my thoughts and beliefs, and to be aware of the choices I make. In 2005, I began a weight loss journey (before picture below) and yoga has been essential in helping me meet my goals. At times, it was the only form of exercise I could participate in; it was the only thing I could bring myself to do because I was so physically and mentally drained. It helped me learn to show love and compassion for my body and to see the importance in taking care of myself. It was a slow process and I made only one small manageable change at a time but soon I began to feel better, to feel good. After loosing over 100 pounds, I obtained a group exercise certification so I could stay on track as well as work with and motivate other people facing similar struggles. I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2011 with Frog Lotus Yoga at the Centro Creativo Lalita in Acebo, Spain. It was an amazing experience that changed the way I see my life and future. It was confirmation that I can do anything I want to. I have continued to take many trainings and have taught chisel/body sculpting and zumba in addition to Vinyasa yoga, aerial yoga and hot yoga. However, I have found yoga is the most rewarding. It is so much more than just physical exercise. Yoga has offered me opportunities to reevaluate my life over and over again. It encourages strength and growth of the mind, body and spirit. It has been an incredible tool for transformation for me and I hope to share that in my classes. - Lisa
